Our Story
We Travel Because the World Deserves to Know Us.
Same Jane was built on the belief that queer women deserve travel experiences as extraordinary as they are — intimate, intentional, and unapologetically ours.
How It Began
Born from a trip that changed everything.
Same Jane started with a small group of women, a rented beachside villa, and a shared realization: the world looks different when you move through it with your people. Not a tour group. Not a resort. A gathering.
We came home changed — not just by the things we had seen, but by the depth of connection we had found. We knew we had to do it again. And again. And eventually, we knew we had to open the door wider.
Same Jane is that open door. Every trip we design is built around the same question: what would this experience look like if queer women were at the center of every decision?
What We Stand For
Three things we never compromise on.
Comfort Without Apology
We believe Janes deserve the finest — the best tables, the most extraordinary accommodations, the experiences that feel like a secret the world kept from us. We're done keeping ourselves small.
Connection Over Consumption
We don't do tourist traps. Every Same Jane itinerary is designed to create genuine encounters — with the places we visit, the cultures we enter, and the women we travel alongside.
Radical Inclusion
Same Jane is for queer women and their allies. Lesbian, bisexual, trans, non-binary, questioning, and the people who love us. If you feel called here, you belong here.
Our Commitment
A space built for all of us.
We are committed to creating travel experiences that are safe, affirming, and genuinely welcoming for queer women of all backgrounds, body types, abilities, and identities.
We vet every destination, accommodation, and partner for LGBTQ+ safety and inclusivity. We work with local queer guides wherever possible. We center the voices of women of color, trans women, and disabled travelers in how we design every journey.
Same Jane is not a perfect organization — but we are a committed one. We listen, we learn, and we keep building something better.
The Founder
Named for the woman who taught her what joy looks like.
Megan McNamara
Founder
Same Jane is named for Megan's mother, Jane — a woman who moved through the world with an open heart and brought people together wherever she went. Megan built this community in that spirit: a place where women travel with intention, find genuine connection, and come home a little more themselves.
The Original Same Jane
Before social media, before group texts, before online communities, there was my mother with a coffee cup in her hand.
Sometimes it held coffee. Sometimes it held wine. But the contents were never really the point. The cup was simply an invitation — to stay a little longer, tell a story, laugh until your stomach hurts, share a worry that felt too heavy to carry alone, or solve a problem as only women seem capable of doing when they gather together.
Growing up, our house was a revolving door. I spent countless summer days on a rickety wooden dock overlooking Bare Hill Pond. Three generations of women gathered there regularly, sunbathing, chatting, laughing, and somehow coordinating entire meals without ever appearing to have a plan.
My grandmother Helen had her own version of this gift. Every afternoon around four o'clock, she would drag a folding lawn chair into the middle of her gravel driveway. In one hand was usually an old pickle jar holding her Manhattan cocktail. Almost like clockwork, people appeared. Stories were exchanged. Problems were solved. Laughter echoed across the neighborhood.
Long before the term existed, these women were creating networks of support. They were building community. They did not call it empowerment. They simply called it visiting.
My mother — lovingly and occasionally exasperatedly referred to as The Cruise Director — believed every gathering could be a little bigger, every friendship a little deeper, and every stranger just a friend she had not met yet. She passed away on July 4th. Not a day goes by that I do not miss her.
But as Same Jane began taking shape, I realized something important. What I miss most is not just her. It is what she created. The feeling of belonging. The certainty that someone would stop by. The understanding that community was not something you joined. It was something you built.
Same Jane is my invitation to do exactly that. In many ways, it is the community my mother spent a lifetime teaching me how to build. And I think she would be thrilled to know you are here.

The Team
The people who bring it to life.
Jennifer Lahiff-Ditlevson
International Merchandise Curator
Jennifer has an eye for the pieces that make a place unforgettable. She curates the Same Jane shop by traveling directly to the source — meeting the makers, learning the stories, and bringing home only what she'd want herself. Every item in the shop exists because Jennifer found it worth finding.
Nancy Davids
Meetings, Journeys and Beyond
Based in Harvard, MA, Nancy is the operational heart of Same Jane. Through her firm Meetings, Journeys and Beyond, she has spent decades orchestrating group travel that actually works — every transfer, every room, every detail accounted for so the women on our trips can be fully present.
